Adjusted Minor League Stats Formula

We are very excited to launch a new section of the site that shows adjusted minor league statistics. Mark Sandritter, my good friend and former colleague in ESPN's Stats Department, created the database.

It's unlike anything I've ever seen before and the research potential of this project is limitless.

Basically, the goal is to nullify the effect of a league on an individual player's numbers. Offensive stats are inflated in the Pacific Coast League. Contrariwise, the Florida State League favors pitchers. This database neutralizes those advantages.

The actual player statistics were divided by the league average and then that number was multiplied by 100 (for cosmetic reasons). A score of 100 represents league average. If a player has a number higher than that then he is considered above average for that league. A number lower than 100 represents a statistic that is below league average. Age wasn't factored into the equation, but it is listed for each player along with the average age of the entire league.
